The newly developed program is designed to result in the socio-economic changes, and above all contribute significantly to the implementation of the strategy “Europe 2020 ‘strategy for growth, employment, and social justice. The new program ERASMUS + replaces several popular existing EU programs i.e.:

  • LLP Erasmus (Lifelong Learning Erasmus);
  • Youth in Action;
  • Erasmus Mundus;
  • Tempus Erasmus;
  • Alpha;
  • Edulink;
  • Programs of cooperation with industrialized countries in the field of higher education;

ERASMUS

ERASMUS + aims to go beyond the scope of the above listed programs by promoting synergies and cross-inspiration in various fields of education, training, eliminating the artificial boundaries between the various activities and projects, supporting new ideas, attracting new subjects from the environments of work and civil society and stimulate new forms of cooperation.

With a budget of EUR 14.7 billion, it is assumed that more than 4 million people will gain valuable experience and new skills by studying at a partner university, apprenticeships or volunteer work held in the prestigious European companies. ERASMUS + will also for the first time support the sport, with a view to solving the problem of doping or match-fixing in particular.

Also for the first time, this program is anticipating additional financial support for disabled people and those with financial hardships, as well as the opportunity to travel to the practice for recent graduates.

In conclusion, the ERASMUS + is designed to support the activities of the countries participating in the program for the effective use of the potential of human skills and social capital of Europe, while reaffirming the principle of learning throughout whole life by linking support to formal learning, non-formal and informal learning in the areas of education, training and sport.
